With our partner Donautal Touristik you can book your canoe tour on the Upper Danube. You can experience the fascinating nature of the Danube valley from the boat. Canoe downstream from the Beuron district of Hausen im Tal.
Exit points:
The first opportunity to get off is in Thiergarten after around 7 km.
If you decide to continue, it is also possible to end the tour in Gutenstein (11 km) or Dietfurt (15 km). The longest route to Sigmaringen is 21 km.
You are free to decide how far you want to go during the ride.
Boating offers new insights into the nature around the Young Danube. As you wind your way through the high limestone cliffs of the Danube Gorge Valley, there is one thing you can be sure of: the Young Danube, which is still quite small and low here.
If you’re lucky, you might spot rare species in the middle of the Upper Danube Nature Park: the kingfisher, the beaver and the dipper. However, you have to be fairly quiet and avoid making unnecessary noise. It is also advisable to paddle in the middle of the river so as not to frighten the animals.
To make your boat trip an experience
Please note the following information:
- The “boating season” begins on May 1 and ends on October 3 of each year.
- The Donautal Touristik boat distribution takes place on:
- Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays as well as during school vacations in Baden-Württemberg from 10.00 to 13.30,
on weekdays from 10.00 to 12.00. - The boats can be left at the disembarkation points until 18.00 hrs.
- The water level at the Danube level in Beuron must not fall below 53 cm at 8 a.m. on the day of the tour, otherwise the Danube is not navigable for nature conservation reasons.
- The entry point is located at the road bridge in the direction of Leibertingen and Wildenstein Castle with a parking lot for cars and buses.
- You can obtain the necessary life jackets from the “Minigolf-Gartenwirtschaft”. You will also receive a map with a description of the course of the river, a “pack sack” and a short briefing on nature conservation, the course of the route and canoeing techniques.
- Donautal Touristik also offers to pick up the boats.
- You will find rest stops along the way at the Neumühle weir, in Thiergarten and Gutenstein and at the Dietfurt mill.

Group offers
Canoeing as a group
Donautal Touristik also offers group packages and provides suggestions for the organization, with various refreshment stops, timetable, transfer of people and alternative program. A Weißwurst breakfast can be booked before the tour, a picnic lunch can be prepared for the tour and barbecues with salad buffets or Maultaschen buffets can be booked after the tour.
